Since April 2025, Youp has been part of the team at SOLV. With a broad interest in legal issues at the intersection of law and technology, he is a versatile and valuable addition to the firm. His focus lies primarily on IT and privacy law, but he also has a strong interest in media and competition law.
Youp completed the Master’s program in Law and Technology in Europe at Utrecht University, where he explored the legal aspects of digital innovation. His thesis on killer acquisitions reflects his critical perspective on the market power of large tech companies. He then pursued a Master’s degree in Information Law at the Institute for Information Law (IViR) at the University of Amsterdam. There, he wrote a thesis on dark patterns and the Digital Markets Act (DMA), expanding his expertise in consumer protection and the regulation of digital markets. During this program, he was also actively involved in the student association SVIR.
Over time, Youp developed a strong affinity for the legal profession. An internship at a specialised law firm confirmed his enthusiasm for legal practice. The combination of legal depth, direct client contact, and strategic thinking is what truly drives him.
Youp is known as an energetic and approachable colleague who tackles complex legal issues with dedication. Outside of work, he is socially engaged: he volunteers at a community center, helping elderly people navigate social media and digital devices. In his free time, he can often be found on the golf course with friends and family.
