Bas has been an attorney-at-law since 1995. He specialized in employment law at two large firms and then was a partner of a niche firm for over 20 years. Since 2016, besides being a lawyer, he is also a mediator (MfN certified) and combines both practices. Since November 1, 2023, he joined SOLV as a lawyer and mediator in the role of ‘Of Counsel’.
As an employment lawyer, he has extensive experience assisting employers with reorganizations and with issues such as individual dismissal, employee participation, restrictive covenants (non-compete) and contract negotiations. He also regularly assists individual employees and directors who are threatened with dismissal or have already been given notice.
As an MfN Registered Mediator, Bas is highly experienced in assisting in all kinds of disputes that professional organizations and individuals may face. In this capacity, he has contributed over the years to the resolution of a wide range of disputes within commercial and non-profit organizations, including in the healthcare sector.
Bas is president of the Dutch Association of Mediation Lawyers (NVVMA) and a member of the following specialty associations: European Employment Lawyers Association (EELA), Vereniging Arbeidsrecht Advocaten Nederland (VAAN), Vereniging Arbeidsrecht Advocaten Amsterdam (VAAA), Vereniging van Arbeidsmediators Nederland (VAN).
